Varsity Boys Individuals:

This year’s individual section championship should come down to a
dual between teammates, Dominec D’Aquisto and Zach Kaylor of Enterprise. The
favorite, however, will be EAL champion, D’Aquisto.  Only a sophomore, Dominec has
already won section championships in cross country, the 1600, and the 3200 in track.
His winning time of 16:03 on West Valley’s course last season is the second fastest
freshman time ever, behind four-time state champ, Tim Nelson.  Dominec was the top
ranked freshman in the state of California last fall.  Junior, Zach Kaylor is the only Northern
Section runner to defeat D’Aquisto this year.  Following 4th and 5th place finishes at the
NSCIF Finals the past two years, Zach is ready to challenge for the title.  Both are in top
condition after breaking the Chico course record at the EAL Finals last week.  Several top
ten runners return from 2007 including junior Dustin Gibbs (Pleasant Valley) 5th,  sophomore
Eric Ghelfi (Redding Adventist) 6th,  junior Dan Parker (Chico) 8th,  and junior Scott Minor
(Hayfork) 10th.   Others to watch include: Aiden McKee (Yreka) NAL Champ, Tony Perez
(Sutter) BVL Champ, Freddy Carrillo (Corning) 2nd NAL, and freshman Daniel Johnson
(UPrep) WV Coed Champ.
